MELİSA UZUNARSLAN

VIOLIN

           Melisa Uzunarslan, born in Istanbul in 1985, began her musical education at the age of 9 in Prof. Gönül Gökdoğan’s violin class. She pursued a double major in violin and composition at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University Istanbul State Conservatory, graduating with high honors in 2007 from the classes of Prof. Çiğdem İyicil (violin) and Prof. Hasan Uçarsu (composition). In 2010, she completed her Master’s degree in Violin at the same conservatory. Uzunarslan is currently continuing her Proficiency in Art studies at Maltepe University Conservatory, where she also serves as a Lecturer.

            In addition to her roles as a violinist, songwriter, composer, and multi-instrumentalist, she has performed concerts at “BBC PROMS” and “Royal Albert Hall.” She served as the Concertmaster of the Pergine Spettacolo Aperto Italy Youth Festival Orchestra and has participated in numerous concerts with prestigious orchestras in Australia, America, Europe, and Israel. Uzunarslan actively continues her work as a soloist, singer, and composer in various orchestras and chamber music ensembles. 

            Since 2016, she has released two independent albums, each containing 10 songs, and 16 singles, all of which she wrote, composed, and performed. Blending her pop culture and academic background, she has composed and performed music for many TV series, films, and advertisements. Uzunarslan has also been the solo violinist and backing vocalist for renowned artists such as Sezen Aksu, Teoman, and Nil Karaibrahimgil. She has given concerts featuring her works, such as the “Melange” Violin Concerto No:1, String Quartet, Piano Quintet, “Elegy” for Cello and Piano, and Violin and Piano Sonata No.1, Op. 13, under the title “Uzunarslan Chamber Works.” Her album “Uzunarslan Plays Uzunarslan Violin Sonata No.1 Op.13” was also released.
