ZEYNEP SİMGE ACUNAZ EYTEMİZ

VIOLIN

            Zeynep Simge Acunaz Eytemiz, born in Izmir, began her violin education at D.E.U. State Conservatory with Lecturer Kartal Akıncı. She continued her high school education with Assoc. Prof. Melek Göküstün. Throughout her student life, she gave successful concerts both domestically and internationally, and in 2009, she graduated from the class of Jerrold Rubenstein. She continued her studies with Prof. Ellen Jewett in 2011-2012. In 2015, she completed her master’s degree at D.E.U. Institute of Fine Arts as a student of Joshua Epstein.

            As the concertmaster of the National Youth Symphony Orchestra under Cem Mansur, she performed in concerts in Bursa, Istanbul, and Berlin. As the second concertmaster of the International Animato Youth Symphony Orchestra under Howard Griffiths, she performed in Bratislava (Reduta), Graz (Stefanienensaal), Bern (Kultur-Casino), Berlin (Konzerthaus Berlin), Prague (Smetana Hall), and Vienna (Wiener Konzerthaus). During another tour of the same orchestra, she performed as the second concertmaster with conductors Thierry Fischer and Pierre Bleuse in many cities across Europe. She represented her country in Armenia’s cities of Gyumri and Vanadzor with the Peace Melodies Youth Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Aram Talalyan. In the same year, she participated in many festival concerts in Georgia with the Travelling Notes Youth Symphony Orchestra. She also took part in workshops with Prof. Natalia Gabunia.

            She has performed as a soloist with the Dokuz Eylül Symphony Orchestra, Concerto Barocco Chamber Orchestra, Travelling Notes Festival Orchestra, and Karşıyaka Chamber Orchestra. She continued her chamber music career with numerous concerts with the Olten Quartet, Rey Quartet, Davos Music Festival Chamber Orchestra, and Karşıyaka Chamber Orchestra.

            Between 2009-2012, she was a guest artist with the Izmir State Symphony Orchestra. She served as the concertmaster of the Olten Philharmonic Orchestra in 2013-2014, a guest artist with the Çukurova Symphony Orchestra from 2012-2016, and a member of the Karşıyaka Chamber Orchestra from 2014-2017. She had the opportunity to work with esteemed conductors such as İbrahim Yazıcı, Rengim Gökmen, and Howard Griffiths.

            In 2014-2015 and 2017, she successfully represented her country at the International Davos Music Festival and participated in chamber music workshops with Prof. Eberhard Feltz at the same festival.

            From 2015-2018, she worked as a lecturer in the Violin Department of the String Instruments Main Art Department at D.E.U. State Conservatory. Between 2016-2023, she taught the course ‘Eras and Composers in Music’ at Izmir University of Economics. In 2020, under the supervision of Prof. Ebru Güner Canbey and in the class of Ildiko Moog, she successfully completed her proficiency in art education at D.E.U. State Conservatory Institute of Fine Arts. She is currently pursuing a second degree in Sociology at Izmir Democracy University and continues her career as an associate professor in the Violin Department of the String Instruments Main Art Department at D.E.U. State Conservatory, while also giving concerts both domestically and internationally.
